1st Annual National Youth Apprenticeship Week

The 2023 VYCC Pro Forest Crew after a long day of work in Shoreham, VT.

Across the county, and here in Vermont, we are seeing increasing interest in non-traditional pathways into high-wage careers. Apprenticeships offer opportunities to learn and earn with a combination of education and work-based training. Serve Learn Earn programs offer a similar model with the added feature of service: participants complete work that supports the common good!

Historically, apprenticeships have been structured for older workers, but many new opportunities are now engaging young adults, ages 16-24. Serve Learn Earn joins in celebrating and bringing awareness to these paid training opportunities by participating in the 1st Annual National Youth Apprenticeship Week. Young adults interested in work-based learning have many options through Serve Learn Earn! Build your carpentry skills through a ReSOURCE 101 training intensive or at Vermont Works for Women Trailblazer program. Perhaps you want to gain experience in forestry- join Vermont Youth Conservation Corps’ conservation program and get certified to use a chainsaw! Or are you interested in outdoor education and youth leadership- you can intern with Audubon Vermont for a semester or serve as an AmeriCorps member for a full year! Check out all the options here!
